Content and objectives:
This course approaches acting using the English language. We start with physical exercises, move on to voice work, and then combine these in the scene study from contemporary plays in English. We will be focusing mostly on acting methods derived from Stanislavski, but will also use other approaches to widen the scope. Depending on the group we will venture more into Shakespeare and/or Meisner technique. The main focus of the course is on how to act and react intuitively, resolving in fully embodied acting. The use of English as a language in acting is not just a question of language. A whole culture is codified in the how you use language, the how being what an actor mostly does. For non-native speakers this presents a fruitful acting challenge: when acting in a language other than your own you have a possibility to stretch your capabilities as an actor to the limits. The working language throughout the course is English. This way you will learn to use the language as an organic and instrumental part of your overall expression. The course is meant both for those who want to try out English as a language in acting and for those to whom it’s a native language. The course fee includes the fee of Theatre Academy 20 €.
