FINNISH FOR FOREIGNERS 2009-2010

Please note that there have been some changes in the contents of the basic courses.

Basic courses (levels 1-5)
The contents of Finnish for Foreigners basic courses have been changed and a new level (5) has been added. In the 2009-2010 program levels 1-5 correspond to the previous basic course levels 1-4 covering the following textbooks: Lepäsmaa-Silfverberg, Suomen alkeisoppikirja and Silfverberg, Harjoituskirja suomen kielen perusopetusta varten. The above-mentioned material has now been divided into units of three chapters to be covered on each level. Please make sure that you have a good grasp of the previous material when choosing a new course.

LEVEL 1 (for beginners)
(52 lessons)
Course fee 90 €

Textbooks: Lepäsmaa-Silfverberg, Suomen kielen alkeisoppikirja
and Silfverberg, Harjoituskirja suomen kielen perusopetusta varten.
Chapters: 1 - 3.
The participants are expected to master the Western alphabet.
Course programme: Finnish pronunciation and the alphabet; verb categories and finite forms; single in the nominative case and some other cases; simple questions and phrases; days of the week.
Please note that the contents of the Finnish for Foreigners basic courses have been changed and a new level has been added. In the 2009-2010 program levels 1-5 correspond to the previous levels 1 - 4.

Chapters: 4 - 6.
Course programme: The plural in the nominative case, the object, the genitive; more cases; new vocabulary; telling the time; months; seasons, the weather.

Prerequisites: the contents of new Finnish for Foreigners basic course level 1 (chapters 1-3 in Suomen kielen alkeisoppikirja)
