Seek the essence of beauty and recognize that there are lightness and darkness in the nature or life. When you dance with pure heart, naturally the beauty of individual dance appears. The important thing is to first purify through the practices of body, mind, breathing and senses before moving into the deep transcendental state of imagination and transformation work. It is similar to a meditation state. The feeling of invisible energy movements can be found behind the visible movement and how they are related to each other. Listening and seeing the sound of movement and silence holds the key to open your instinct creativity that reaches to the core of Butoh Aesthetics state. The course fee includes the fee of Theatre Academy 20 €.

Content and objectives:
During this course we will explore creative dance practices that develop dance technique and movement vocabulary, while expanding a sense of connection in your own experiencing body. Through various improvisational tasks and sequences, we allow the breath and gravity to discover the dynamic fluency and availability of one’s own body, while opening the senses to the space and each other. Using both a range of music and silence, we will dance in different atmospheres depending on the task at hand we are diving into. You will get to study in depth the details, pathways and possibilities of finding your body in movement, for yourself and in relation with others in pairs and groups. We will strengthen our ability to listen: to one´s own body, each other and the space, where presence and creative freedom open up. Our goal is to deepen our enjoyment of the body as a site for expressive movement and learning. The course is a place to be curious and playful. You will be facilitated on your journey that will develop your dancing, and feed your creative urge in a way that is tailored to the needs of the participants. Come as you are, no prior experience in dance is required. You are welcome to hop in!

Dates and times:

Content and objectives:
In Argentinian tango dancing, a couple joins in an embrace to move together interpreting the music. Inside the couple there are two distinctive roles, a leader (usually – but not exclusively – a man) and a follower (usually – but not exclusively – a woman).  In this course, we approach Argentinian Tango as a social dance. To this aim, two essential concepts will guide us: 1) Connection and communication in the couple: In social dances, improvisation occurs all the time and that is especially true in Argentinian Tango. The couple communicates all the time through the embrace so we put special emphasis in understanding its dynamics. 2) Musicality: In our classes the music is the essential reference to which we dance. Every move in the dance should be connected with the music. We will constantly work in understanding the music, so that each student can interpret it in his/her own style. Guided by those principles, throughout the course we learn technical elements and basic steps for the dance floor (different ways of walking in couple, “rebounds”, ”ocho”, among others). During each lesson we provide individual and group feedback, and we strongly encourage students to participate with questions and comments. There is no need to come with a partner or to have previous experience in dancing. We change partners, and possibly roles, during the class. At the end of the course we organize a ”field trip” to a Milonga (Argentinian Tango Party) so the students can put into practice what they have learned.
